Lucy and Patrick Lammer are a brother/sister team that are the current fourth generation owners. The store originated in the 1860's as Leonard and Peter Lammer arrived from Germany to set up a tailor and dry goods shop. Eventually, Leonard Lammer expanded the dry goods into a small grocery store and sold it to his son John Lammer Sr. In 1952, his son, John F. Lammer, purchased the store and in 1997 Lucy and Pat bought the business from their parents, John and Willa Lammer.
Lucy and Pat emphasize the importance of family throughout the whole company. The staff has included many non-Lammer family members: mother and daughters, brothers and sisters, spouses and even grandparents and grandkids.
